Discover the highlights of Uruguay’s historic yet cosmopolitan capital, Montevideo before exploring the picturesque 17th century town of Colonia with its cobble-stoned streets lined with beautiful colonial buildings.

Take the fast ferry from Buenos Aires to Montevideo in the morning. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore Montevideo at your leisure.

On arrival to the port you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Today you will be picked up to do a city tour, in which you will visit Montevideo's most important attractions: the historic centre with its pedestrian streets, the town hall building and the cathedral, the Independence Square, the Legislative Palace, the traditional Prado neighborhood, the riverside drive “Rambla,'' different residential areas and the famous port market “Mercado del Puerto.'' You can enjoy lunch here.(Lunch not included).

Then you will be transferred directly to Colonia, where you start your second tour of the day. Colonia del Sacramento is an UNESCO World Heritage site. Here you will discover the narrow stone streets, the fort, the port, the Spanish and Portuguese houses, downtown and the Rambla. This borders the Old City to the “Real de San Carlos” where the “Plaza de Toros”, the “Hipodromo” and the old harbour can be seen. (Lunch not included).

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and transfer to Colonia Port in time to catch the ferry back to Buenos Aires.

Take a 50 minutes ferry from Colonia back to Buenos Aires.

5) Chimu Adventures’ offices also take a number of sustainability measures including carbon offsets for company vehicles and most staff travel. Chimu Adventure’s internal processes are also structures to create a paperless office and to reduce waste. There are also internal programmes to help staff minimise their carbon footprint such as our staff bike purchase assistance plan which encourages office staff to commute to work via bicycle. Currently almost half of our office based staff commute to work via bicycle.
