OVERVIEW
Take part in a journey across the untamed South Atlantic isles from Ushuaia to Montevideo! Witness some of the most amazing fauna on Earth by traveling to the stunning Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) and the amazing natural paradise that is South Georgia! We will sail into the Southern Ocean from Tierra del Fuego's capital, Ushuaia, with the untamed Falkland Islands in our sights. With hundreds of bird species and a vast array of marine mammals, these legendary islands, which are windswept, treeless, and hardly visited, are a sanctuary for biodiversity. We will visit penguin colonies, albatross rookeries, and have great chances to spot seals, whales, and dolphins during our two days of exploration of the untamed western isles of the Falklands. Nestled between steep hills on the gorgeous coastlines of the South Atlantic, Stanley, the modest yet well shaped capital of the islands, exudes a distinct British air. Explore the city's charming stores, pay a visit to the Historic Dockyard Museum, and get a warm welcome from the locals.
We travel even farther into the South Atlantic to see South Georgia after passing the Falkland Islands. It's no secret that South Georgia, a swathe of craggy mountains covered in glaciers that pierces the gloomy sky, leaves an impression on everyone who visits. There are thousands of King Penguins, Antarctic fur seals, and elephant seals along the coast. Many whale species, including as blue and humpback whales, can be seen in large numbers in the productive waters offshore. This natural sanctuary has earned the moniker 'Galapagos of the South' due to its impressive penguin colonies, seal-filled seas, and sky full with albatrosses. During the final section of our journey, we will relish several peaceful and restful days at sea while we navigate towards Montevideo, the energetic city of Uruguay. As we enter the tropics and observe a group of whales, dolphins, and albatrosses fly past the ship, watch the mercury increase. One of the most unique towns in South America, Montevideo provides fantastic food and wine, beach days with lots of sunshine, or just time to unwind, sip yerba mate, and take in the Rioplatense atmosphere.
