An overnight stay in Buenos Aires is the ideal setting to kickstart your adventure. Famously called the ‘Paris of South America’, Buenos Aires is a sensuous fusion of faded European splendour and Latin American panache. You can spend the evening at your leisure, sampling an authentic steak dinner at one of the city’s many parrillas or sightseeing some of the city’s best-known landmarks at Plaza de Mayo.

But to get the most out of your experience, we urge you to arrive a few days early to really immerse yourself in this seductive and sophisticated city, replete with historic French and Italian architecture.

Buenos Aires is home to numerous fine and modern art museums, landscaped parks and one of the world’s greatest opera houses – Teatro Colón. And that’s before we even mention the world-famous nightlife - Including the cities renown tango shows.

Free Day in Buenos Aires

We fly first thing in the morning to a place nicknamed ‘End of the World’: the bustling port city of Ushuaia. It is here where your voyage truly begins. Once on board, you’ll meet the Expedition Team and crew members who will take you through a mandatory meeting related to health and safety – both yours and others. Later that evening, we mark the launch of our journey with a welcome dinner. Afterwards, you can familiarise yourself with this state-of-the-art vessel, especially designed for sustainable voyages in polar waters. On our way through the scenic Beagle Channel, you can watch for the rare endemic Peale’s dolphin and other wildlife.

Fly Buenos Aires to Ushuaia

Prepare yourself for Antarctica as we cross the famed Drake Passage. During the voyage south, the Expedition Team starts the lecture programme, giving you information about Antarctica’s fascinating history and environmental science. You’ll also learn how to make your visit as safe and as sustainable as possible and you’ll join Citizen Science programmes to help collect data for current scientific research. This is also a good opportunity to enjoy all the amenities of your advanced hybrid powered expedition ship.

Drake Passage - Day 4 to 5

Antarctica never fails to inspire awe and wonder, with white horizons above oceans full of icebergs and whales. Perhaps even more awe-inspiring will be your first encounter with the huge colonies of penguins.

Our Expedition Team will lead ice-cruising and landings at every opportunity to come ashore and explore the impressive Antarctic scenery. From deck, there are great chances to spot whales. Of course, this is true wilderness, so nature is in charge, but our experienced captain will work with the elements to create the best possible itinerary for your adventure. We will attempt landings at several sites in the South Shetlands and on the Antarctic Peninsula and aim to bring you to the incredible diversity of landscapes and rich wildlife on display in this pristine wilderness.

Wherever we explore, the sights and sounds and of Antarctica are sure to stay with you for a lifetime!

Antarctica - Day 6 to 10

After exploring this exhilarating continent, we set course back to civilisation. Spend the day at sea recapping your experiences, having fun in the Science Center or just relaxing on deck, spotting the many sea birds which follow our ship.

Crossing the Drake - Day 11 to 12

Your incredible adventure will end in Buenos Aires. From here you may decide to extend your stay in Buenos Aires or perhaps extend your incredible adventure with other experiences in Chile or the greater South America.

As a member of IAATO we follow guidelines appointed by the Antarctic Treaty System to go above and beyond in support of minimizing negative impacts on this pristine landscape. We also encourage clients to look to book pre-and post- accommodation with us, where local businesses will be supported. Our clients also receive restaurant recommendations which support locally owned restaurants

We carefully select all ships we work with and choose smaller sized vessels to create less impact. We use a highly regulated, licensed vessel which is well equipped to operate in the Antarctic’s delicate ecosystem. We view the voyage to the Antarctic as an expedition, not a sightseeing trip. Smaller boats such as ours can navigate narrow waterways and are far less polluting than the larger ships in Antarctic waters. By carrying less passengers, we have far less waste. The waste is carried back to the home port to allow for environmentally conscious waste management and disposal.
