OVERVIEW

Take a unique journey from Argentina to Chile via the Argentinean and Chilean Lakes Districts. Departing from Bariloche, you will wave goodbye to the Saint Bernard dogs and chocolate shops to make your way into Chile. To cross the border you will take a series of bus and boat rides through spectacular scenery with highlights including Lake Nahuel Huapi, Puerto Blest, Lake Frias, Peulla, Lake Todos Los Santos and Vicente Peres Rosales National Park. After reaching your final destination, Puerto Varas, you will have time to explore Lake Lanquihue and the nearby town of Fruitillar.

ITINERARY

Bariloche to Puerto Varas

Departing from Bariloche you will cross the Argentinean border into Chile whilst also crossing the Andes, travelling by a mix of bus and boat. You will be amazed by the scenery and the emerald colours of the lake thanks to the minerals from the surrounding glaciers. Once in Puerto Frias you will exit Argentina and travel to Peulla, stopping for lunch and some time at leisure. Continue by boat across Lake Todos Los Santos, one of Chile’s most beautiful lakes.
Disembark in Puerto Varas. Known as ‘La Ciudad de las Rosas’ or ‘The City of Roses,’ Puerto Varas is characterised by traditional German architecture, manicured gardens and the pristine lakeside scenery. A prime location for adventure sports, visitors can enjoy kayaking, sailing, rafting, fishing and sailing as well as canyoning, rock climbing and mountain biking.

Peulla to Puerto Varas

Today you will depart Peulla, travelling by boat and then by road to Puerto Varas. Your boat ride takes you on Lake Todos Los Santos, one of Chile’s most beautiful lakes.
Travel by bus along the shores of Lake Llanquihue, you will arrive in Puerto Varas. Known as ‘La Ciudad de las Rosas’ or ‘The City of Roses,’ Puerto Varas is characterised by traditional German architecture, manicured gardens and the pristine lakeside scenery. A prime location for adventure sports, visitors can enjoy kayaking, sailing, rafting, fishing and sailing as well as canyoning, rock climbing and mountain biking.

Depart Puerto Varas

You will be transferred to the airport in Puerto Montt to fly to your next destination.

    Please note the full day Lakes Crossing from Bariloche to Puerto Varas takes approximately 12-13 hours. There is the possibility to split the crossing over 2 days by overnighting in the small town of Puella, however there is not a huge amount to do here and the accommodation is relatively basic. If you would prefer for a mroe relaxing 2 day crossing please advise your booking agent.
