Private transfer from Belize City to San Ignacio or v.v.
San Ignacio is a small town in the Cayo region of Belize, located on the west bank of the Macal River and inhabited by an interesting mix of Mestizos, Maya, Garifuna as well as European and North American expatriates. The town is a hub for outdoor activities such as caving, hiking, kayaking and horseback riding. It is also the gateway to Belize’s Mayan ruins including the ancient city of Xunantunich and to caves that were sacred to the ancient Maya, containing beautiful stalactites, stalagmites, pottery and even skeletons.
You will be met at your hotel and transferred to the Maya village of San Antonio. Here we have an opportunity to see the Mestizo culture that is the mix of Maya and Spanish - you will see members of two tribes that live in San Antonio-the Mopan and the Yucatec. From here you will visit the Pine Ridge Nature Reserve, which is a national park and here you can learn about the reforestation programs taking place. Then, a one hour drive takes us to the Maya site of Caracol which is the largest archaeological site in Belize. On the way back to the hotel you can choose to visit the Rio-on Pools and Rio Frio Caves if you wish. Included: Private transfers, guide, lunch and entrance fees.
After an exciting drive to the trailhead, guests will trek for 45 minutes through dense jungle in the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve and wade across three streams, learning about the plants and animals of the jungle along the way. At the entrance of the cave guests are outfitted in the necessary equipment preparing them for the caving adventure ahead. Some swimming will be required and also climbing and caving activity. This is a first class caving and archaeological experience. Time in the cave is approximately 3 hours before returning back to the vehicle and to the hotel.
Today you are free to relax and enjoy the pure air and the beauty of the wonderful Belizean Rainforest.
Whilst transferring to or from one of the airports in Belize guests enjoy a cave tubing trip at Jaguar Paw. Guests transfer to the famous Caves Branch river cave system for a fun cave tubing trip. They hike through the rainforest to the top of the river where they put in with their tubes and then float all the way back down the river through caves and rainforest. When guests are ready they transfer to their final destination.

About me
Chimu Adventures undertakes a number of sustainability measures within its operations including:
1) Only using local guides and office staff to both maximise local employment opportunities and minimise carbon footprints. Local guides also ensure you benefit from the intimate knowledge, passion and culture of the country you’re visiting.
2) Where possible, using locally owned and operated boutique hotels to maximise the return to the local community.
3) Chimu’s “Pass it on” programme has provided funding to hundreds of local community projects in Latin America. Our aim is to empower local communities, helping them to develop their own infrastructure for the future. Since 2006, we have been working with Kiva (a well-known Non-Governmental Organisation), providing hundreds of loans to local businesses all over South America.
4) In our pre tour information we provide a range of tips and advice on how to minimise your impact on both local environments and communities.
5) Chimu Adventures’ offices also take a number of sustainability measures including carbon offsets for company vehicles and most staff travel. Chimu Adventure’s internal processes are also structures to create a paperless office and to reduce waste. There are also internal programmes to help staff minimise their carbon footprint such as our staff bike purchase assistance plan which encourages office staff to commute to work via bicycle. Currently almost half of our office based staff commute to work via bicycle.
