Tayrona National Park Extension

Your tour begins in the colonial port city of Cartagena. Situated on the Caribbean coastline, Cartagena is famous for its walled old town, where you can wander the historical districts of El Centro and San Diego and see examples of its colonial architecture.
Departing from your hotel, you will travel along the Caribbean coastline to Los Naranjos, which overhangs the Caribbean sea and borders the Tayrona National Park. On arrival, enjoy some downtime in your unique eco lodgings or relax by the hotel pool.

Today you will tour some of the highlights of Tayrona National Park. Home to a wide array of mammals and birds, including the extremely endangered cotton-topped tamarin, Tayrona National Park stretches over 150 square kilometres of coastline and features rainforests, rivers and beaches.
You will visit the coconut palm lined white sandy beaches of Canaveral and Arrecifes on an ecological walk to Piscinita, a safe beach for swimming before returning to your hotel.

Today is a free day where you can choose to relax at your hotel and enjoy a cocktail by the pool, take a hike along the riverside of the Mendihuaca or go swimming, snorkelling or surfing on Los Naranjos beach.
Alternatively, you can take an excursion back to Tayrona National Park and hike to Cabo San Juan or visit Pueblito Chayrama, where archaeological ruins lie. These are remnants of the Tayrona people, who once inhabited this area and built their ancient capital, Cuidad Perdida (Lost City) in the jungle nearby.

You will be collected from your hotel for your onward journey from Santa Marta Airport.
