ITINERARY INSPIRATION

You will arrive in Tamarindo, a popular surf destination on Costa Rica’s Pacific coastline. Tourists flock to surf the waves of Tamarindo’s golden sandy beaches. Close to the town is Playa Tamarindo, while further afield you can discover Playa Langosta and Playa Grande. There are a number of water activities available in Playa Tamarindo, such as SUP, fishing and snorkelling while in town you can wander the local markets or dine at one of the many fantastic restaurants.

Transfer to Tamarindo

Today is a free day to relax and enjoy the surf, sand and sunshine of Tamarindo. You can choose to take a walk along the soft, golden sandy beach of Playa Tamarindo, enlist in a surfing class or even go horseback riding. It’s up to you. Whatever you choose, you are sure to enjoy all that this tropical destination has to offer.

Tamarindo free day

Perhaps use this free day in Tamarindo to explore a little further afield? Situated in Las Baulas National Marine Park, Playa Grande is a major nesting site for leatherback turtles and in Tamarindo you might choose to book a half day tour to see the turtles and visit the national park. Alternatively, head to Playa Langosta. There is a jungle walk to the beach and it’s a little bit quieter than Playa Tamarindo, especially if you are an experienced surfer looking for a wave in a quieter spot.

Tamarindo free day

From Tamarindo you will journey to Manuel Antonio, stopping enroute at the Tarcoles River. There you will enjoy a jungle crocodile safari and get the chance to get up close to an American Crocodile. In addition to smiling at a Costa Rican apex predator, you may also spot exotic birds, iguanas, lizards, snakes, raccoons, monkeys and anteaters who also call the Tarcoles River their home. Your tour will end in Manuel Antonio, home to Manuel Antonio National Park, one of the most popular national parks in Costa Rica.

For this reason, all information given to you will be sent electronically. To view these documents, you can download them to your iPad or portable computer before and during your trip.

Chimu is passionate and dedicated to sustainability measures and understands the crucial part sustainability plays within the tourism industry.

We use local guides and office staff to both maximise local employment opportunities and minimise carbon footprint. Local guides also ensure you benefit from the intimate knowledge, passion, and culture of the country you’re visiting. Our guides are all highly qualified (most with university degrees) or equipped with many years of experience and are paid above the standard wage. Whether it be our knowledgeable local guides, locally produced meals, or the transport on tour, we do not use imported goods when local products are available. We aim to minimise our impact on the environment and give as much back as possible to the communities we work in.

While visiting the many national parks, heritage sites, museums, and landmarks, our travellers are encouraged to explore whilst remaining culturally aware and sensitive. We further encourage you to buy appropriate souvenirs and discourage the buying of anything wrongfully made or taken from the environment i.e., shells and endangered species products. Information on how you can be environmentally conscious, and travel responsibly will be made available in our Travellers Guides and provided during your travels by guides and staff.
