The Napo Wildlife center is perfect for animal lovers, intrinsically focusing on the unique wildlife offerings of the Amazon to concentrate a unique experience around wildlife the likes of which you won't see anywhere else in the world.
You will be able to climb the canopy tower an incredible experience that takes you above the canopy and leaves an awe-inspiring impression as the rain forest stretches into the horizon.
This itinerary is perfect for combining a journey to Quito to experience incredible markets, amazing colonial architecture and an urban experience that are not found in the jungle but are still an intrinsic South American experience.
This morning you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to the airport where you will board a 30-minute flight over the Andes Mountains to Colca. After landing, you will be transferred from Colca Airport to Port Francisco de Orellana, where you will then embark on a comfortable motorboat. The approximately 2-hour ride along the Napo river will include a lunch box and offers unique scenic and wildlife opportunities such as herons and kingfishers. Upon disembarking the motorboat, you will take a short break and take a peaceful canoe ride to the lake where the Napo Wildlife Centre is located. The canoe ride is a perfect opportunity to spot curios local wildlife including monkeys various bird species including toucans, parrots or macaws. Late afternoon arrival at Napo Wildlife Centre where you will have a welcome drink and be introduced to the facilities. After dinner you may choose to take an optional caiman (alligator) observation around the lake.

Early this morning, depart the lodge and make your way to the visually spectacular parrot clay lick. Easily one of the best natural wildlife experiences in Ecuador, you will see an incredible 11 species of parrots, parakeets and macaws as they sing, dance and cling to ragged clay cliffs. Please note the clay lick is subject to weather conditions. Afterward, hike along the scenic forest trail to the Kichwa community of Anagu. Here you will share you time with local family and community members, taking an authentic dive into the experiences and shared stories of these Amazonian communities.

After breakfast, you will depart for the incredible experience of the canopy tower. Standing 36 metres high the canopy tower, the journey to the top will take you through different levels of the forest, allowing the chance to see unique wildlife before emerging on top of a large Ceiba tree. Flocks of colourful tanagers pass, as spider monkeys cling to trees and macaws fly below.
In the afternoon you may take a hike to a terra firme trail, hiking along the forest floor to discover the deep forest interior. As you hike the trail, you have the possibility of spotting lizards, colourful manakins and the endemic Golden mantel tamarin monkeys. After the hike you may explore the lakes and creeks via dugout canoe, with the incredible possibility of running into a family of giant river otters.
Early departure in the morning where you will make you return via the Napo river. This will give you a last opportunity to see unique wildlife from giant otters, monk Saki monkeys and many other rare birds before boarding your flight back to Quito. Please note flight schedule will vary according to departure details and arrangements.

We use local guides and office staff to both maximise local employment opportunities and minimise carbon footprint. Local guides also ensure you benefit from the intimate knowledge, passion and culture of the country you’re visiting. Our guides are all highly qualified (most with university degrees) or equip with many years of experience and are paid above the standard wage. Whether it be our knowledgeable local guides, locally produced meals or the transport on tour, we do not use imported goods when local products are available. The Napo Wildlife center also plays its part in providing a sustainable Amazon experience. The waste water treatment is some of the most advanced in the Amazon, solar panels and silent generators help generate clean energy and do not disturb the local wildlife. While visiting the many national parks, heritage sites, museums and landmarks our travellers are encouraged to explore remain culturally aware and sensitive. We further encourage you to buy appropriate souvenirs and discourage the buying of anything wrongfully made or taken from the environment i.e. shells and endangered species products.
