Expert Lectures in Antarctica

Enjoy expert lectures in Antarctica or the Arctic onboard your chosen vessel. These are usually conducted formally during sea days and around excursions off the ship and informally by the expedition crew during excursions such as landings and zodiac cruises.

The expert expedition staff come from a wide variety of backgrounds and many have experience as scientists, historians, photographers, biologists, naturalists, penguinologists, glaciologists, and pioneers. Some also have experience working at an Antarctic research station. They may have knowledge bases in areas such as ornithology, geology and polar history and in the Arctic there may be lectures run by crew that are from the area or experts in Inuit culture.

There will also be a number of breifings to discuss activities and ensure you are prepared for your excursions off the ship. These include things like how to dress for excursions, biosecurity, discussing requirements for adventure activities and optional activities like Citizen Science onboard.

Most days the Expediton Leader will also do a recap of the day, followed by an outline of the plan for the following day and at the end of the trip there will be a farewell breifing, which generally involves sharing memories and a slideshow of images taken onboard the expediton.

On some voyages there may be special guest lecturers or scientific experts invited onboard to share their knowledge.
