"My dream of going to South America came true when I spent four months travelling around South and Central America. With the main aim to complete the bucket list it ended up being so much more with the experiences, food and interaction with the local people that made the whole trip!"
The highlights are the amazing scenery walking through Tierra del Fuego to get to The End of the World. Or, that ahh moment that you get when you wake up at the Sun Gate on the summer solstice and see Machu Picchu for the first time after hiking the Inca Trail. Then a contrast to exploring the remoteness of the Salt Flats in Bolivia to meeting the locals in La Paz.
I also loved the wildlife seen when staying in the Amazon for eight days, searching for anacondas and swimming with piranhas (after fishing for them the previous day in the same location) to the photographic opportunities with the abundance of wildlife in Galapagos and swimming with iguanas. Even staying in Nicaragua on the edge of a volcano or just chilling by the beach in Honduras with fantastic diving. Or, exploring many ancient ruins in Guatemala and Honduras with the bonus of monkeys, macaws and tucans.
The city life of Buenos Aires with food, wine and dancing to the Rio Carnivale madness then the waterfalls at Iguazu Falls finished off the four months that I didn’t want to end.
The ultimate experience was cruising to Antarctica and seeing the breathtaking icebergs and vast landscapes and the penguins, seals, birds and whales is something I will never forget.
No matter where you go, there is always something amazing to see and experience in Antarctica and Latin America!
