ITINERARY

Embarkation

Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be met and transferred by private vehicle to Nauta Port for boarding. Along the way, enjoy a box lunch as you take in the passing scenery. Once on board, our staff will escort you to your comfortable suite, where you can settle in before the journey begins. Before setting sail, our bartender will prepare a signature cocktail made with fresh regional fruits and pisco, Peru’s most renowned spirit. Sip and savor the moment while taking in the panoramic views from the observation deck or the indoor and outdoor lounge.

As we embark on our journey, our naturalist guides will present an overview of the itinerary, detailing daily activities, wildlife, vegetation, and the region’s rich history. They are always available to answer any questions and ensure an enriching experience. After the welcome briefing, enjoy a delicious brunch and take some time to relax before the evening adventure. At night, we’ll head out on skiffs to explore Nauta Caño, where we’ll search for alligators, tarantulas, frogs, and other nocturnal creatures. Returning to the ship, we’ll conclude the evening with a special Peruvian dinner infused with Amazonian flavors, featuring a diverse menu, including vegetarian options—please let us know in advance of any dietary preferences.

Marañon River - Yanayacu de Pucate - San Regis

Early in the morning, we invite you to the third deck of the ship for a peaceful moment watching the migration of birds as they pass over the Amazon. Following this, we’ll set out by boat to the Yanayacu de Pucate area, one of the best-preserved regions of the Pacaya Samiria Reserve. Here, we’ll enjoy a special breakfast surrounded by nature, fully immersed in the tranquility of the jungle. Before returning to the ship, guests can choose between a kayak excursion along the calm black waters or a refreshing swim in the river.

Back on board, our bartender will demonstrate how to prepare a classic Peruvian cocktail, followed by lunch and time to relax. Later, our guides will share insights into Amazonian philosophy before we head to the San Regis community, where you’ll learn about local traditions, daily life, and ancestral healing practices from the village shaman. Our guides will serve as interpreters so you can engage with the shaman and explore the spiritual connections and healing customs of the Amazon. Before leaving, we’ll plant a tree as a symbolic contribution to the environment and visit the community’s small craft market, where local women showcase beautiful, handmade pieces. Back on the ship, unwind with live music as we sail into the evening before dinner.

Amazonian Natural Park - Nahuapa River

After breakfast, we’ll set off on a guided jungle walk, followed by an exhilarating canopy walk, offering a unique perspective of the Amazon from the treetops. This elevated vantage point allows us to admire the dense foliage and the incredible biodiversity hidden within the upper layers of the rainforest.

At midday, we’ll return to the ship for lunch on board, followed by some time to rest and recharge. Before the afternoon excursion, we invite you to attend an insightful talk about the endangered species of the Amazon, shedding light on conservation efforts in the region. Later, we’ll embark on a boat expedition along the Nahuapa River, where you’ll get the chance to fish for piranhas using local techniques and traditional equipment. As night falls, we’ll continue our adventure with a skiff excursion in search of alligators, tarantulas, frogs, and other nocturnal creatures. Back on board, unwind with live music as we sail into the evening before dinner.

Marañon River - Casual - Amazon River

After breakfast, we’ll set out on a guided walk through Casual, an area rich in wildlife where we may encounter poisonous frogs and other exotic species. Along the way, we’ll admire the towering Avatar trees and the Victoria Amazonica, also known as Victoria Regia or water lilies, the largest aquatic plant in the world. Before heading back, you’ll have the opportunity to browse and purchase handcrafted items made by local women artisans, supporting their traditional craftsmanship.

Before noon, we’ll return to the ship for a cooking demonstration led by our executive chef, offering a glimpse into the flavors of the Amazon. After lunch, don’t miss an insightful talk on the origins of the Amazon River before we embark on an excursion to the confluence of the Ucayali and Marañón rivers—the very place where the Amazon begins. This area is a prime spot for observing the famous pink river dolphins as they swim and play in these historic waters. Returning to the ship, enjoy some free time to relax before dinner.

Disembarkation

Before breakfast, we’ll visit Nauta, the second-largest city in the region. Upon arrival, we’ll take a motocar tour through its streets, stopping at the local market to experience the city’s vibrant commercial life firsthand. Here, you’ll get a glimpse of daily trade in the Amazon, where fresh produce, regional goods, and handcrafted items fill the stalls.

After returning to Zafiro for breakfast, we’ll prepare for disembarkation. On the way to the airport, we’ll visit the Amazon Forever Bio Park, also known as the Manatee Rescue Center, where biologists and volunteers care for endangered manatees. Learn about the rehabilitation process that prepares these gentle creatures for their return to the wild, along with other rescued Amazonian wildlife. Jungle Experiences actively supports this conservation effort, and we invite you to contribute to this meaningful cause. After the visit, we’ll continue to the airport for your departing flight.
