This 7 day extension package has been exclusively designed by Chimu for our clients who want to explore and have unique adventures in Patagonia. On this trip you will be able to marvel at the wonders of Torres Del Paine and get up close to the impressive Grey Glacier.
Start your journey in the port town Puerto Natales, Chile where you will spend a night. You may wish to explore the Municipal Historical Museum in the city center. The next day you will meet your private guide and transfer into Torres Del Paine. Admire the stunning vistas and board the Grey Navigation across the lake to your home for the next 3 nights, Grey Refuge. The accommodation here is relatively basic - staying in dorm rooms with bunks, that are often used by people completing extended treks, however the refuge has all of the facilities you will need on site. You will be able to do a kayaking trip towards Grey Glacier and a trek on the glacier itself. This is an outer worldly experience you will never forget! Witness ice floes and if you are lucky you may even witness the glacier calving, where large chunks of ice break off the glacier face.
Your kayaking tour and ice trek will be on a shared basis and your private guide will not join you for these activities, however they will be on hand to give you more information about the park and accompany you on walks, hikes and explorations in the park. As this part of the park does not receive a large number of day visitors you will be able to enjoy the serenity and perhaps even do parts of the world famous, multi-day W Trek. From the refuge you will also be able to visit the hanging bridges. These suspension bridges offer some of the best panoramic views of Grey Glacier within the National Park.
After your stay here you will hop back on the boat and travel to Hotel Lago Grey. If you have large luggage we will arrange for it to be left here. Located on Grey Lake, surrounded by a crystalline glacier, granite mountains peaks, forests, and rivers, this hotel is the ideal location for a Torres del Paine National Park getaway. Your stay here includes meals, an open bar and a range of guided small group excursions with expert local guides. You will have time to enjoy a range of walks and hikes that will allow you to explore even more of the park.
Staying at the lodge includes on demand transfers back to Puerto Natales or onto the Argentine border, Cerro Castillo. You will board a local bus that will take you to El Calafate, or you can transfer back to Puerto Natales.
This trip is designed to be an extension that will fit into the middle of our Signature Patagonia package - starting in Santiago you will fly to Purerto Natales and pick up the Patagonia Glacier Extension on day 3 and once you arrive into El Calafate you will pick up day 7-9 of the Signature Patagonia trip here.
Puerto Natales sits on the shores of Seno Última Esperanza in Chilean Patagonia, with striking views across the mountains. Once a relatively small fishing port, Puerto Natales now relies more on tourism, being the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park and the southern terminus of the ferry trip through the Chilean fjords. On arrival transfer to your central hotel for an overnight stay.
Transfer by shuttle to Torres Del Paine National Park. The journey offers stunning vistas and culminates at Lago Grey Hotel. Leave your luggage here and board a boat for a navigation of Grey Lake. Sit back, relax, and take in the breathtaking scenery as you glide past striking peaks and valleys. Disembarking with your guide, you'll head to your accommodation for the next 3 nights at Refugio Grey. Rooms are relatively basic, but staying here allows you to explore more of the park and get away from the crowds. The afternoon offers an opportunity to explore some of the park's trails and hikes with your guide.
*Note: You will be required to travel with only a backpack – maximum 40L for the next few days. Any larger baggage and wheeled cases should be stored. Please note that the Grey Navigation is contingent upon weather and ice conditions. In the event the boat cannot operate, your itinerary may be adjusted accordingly.
Enjoy a half-day tour to trek on Grey Glacier. Enjoy a Zodiac ride across Grey Lake to Nunatak Island followed by a picturesque hour-long walk toward the glacier. Spend roughly 2.5 hours exploring tunnels, ice caves, and rivers trekking on the glacier.
Today we suggest that you visit the hanging suspension bridges of Torres Del Paine which are a 45-minute hike from your accommodation, offering a splendid view of Grey Glacier. If you are lucky, you may see the ice calving from the glacier. This part of the National Park typically sees fewer crowds, providing an opportunity to venture off the beaten track during your stay.
Spend a few hours kayaking on Grey Lake, you'll travel through and get very close to large ice floes, offering an up-close view of the giant ice walls of the glacier and stunning vistas from the lake's waters. All equipment and a safety briefing will be provided.
The remainder of the day you will be able to further explore the national park with your guide at your leisure.
Enjoy a morning at leisure and return by boat to Lago Grey Hotel. Farewell your guide and settle into your hotel. Dinner is included this evening.
After breakfast at the hotel you will head out for a day of exploration in the National Park. The hotel offers a range of included excursions throughout the park including trekking and hiking. The local expert guides will assist you with choosing and arranging your preferred excursions. A popular option is a hike to the base of the towers. You can also do tours to see waterfalls and blue lakes or into parts of the park with a higher population of puma and other wildlife.
This morning is a final chance to admire the stunning vistas of the park. After checking out of the hotel you will be transferred back to Puerto Natales or you can cross the border into Argentina and take an included local bus to El Calafate.
Get up close to Grey Glacier on a kayaking trip and by trekking on the glacier itself!
Explore further and stay longer in the Iconic Torres Del Paine National Park and walk part of the world famous W Trek - a multiday hike, well known for having some of the most stunning vistas in the world.
Stay at a basic, but comfortable refuge for 3 nights, allowing you to get off the beaten track and avoid most day trippers in the park.
Stay 2 nights at the well appointed Hotel Lago Grey and enjoy the Grey Navigation cruise. Your stay includes meals and an open bar as well as a range of included activitires with expert guides.
